Targeting Dart by Manda Mellett
Dart
I laughed when I first saw her auditioning at our strip club, forced into being a stripper as she had no other option like so many of our girls. She’s polar opposite to the women that attract me, and it’s no hardship for me to follow our club’s strict hands off the dancers rule. But when she needs a friend I find I’m there offering my support, which is for me, a novel relationship with to have with a woman.
Slowly she draws me in like a magnet, even though she’s not the type that attracts me. It’s her strength of character, the way she meets the challenges in her life head on. Slowly I realise I want her. The complete package, even if it is wrapped up in an unlikely bow.
I didn’t know that I’d lose her before I could make up my goddamned mind and decide whether I could consider making a commitment. And neither did I know she would cause deep ramifications for my club.

Dart’s an attractive man. Handsome, tall with the sexiest body I’ve ever seen, enough to make any woman’s mouth water. He manages the club where I work, there can be nothing between us because of their rules even if he would ever think of looking at me twice. He goes for statuesque model pretty blonds, not short and dumpy black girls like me.
But when I need a friend, he’s there. When I start to think there could be something more than friendship developing, he throws it all away. I won’t be second best, not again. I’ve learned that lesson already. And now it’s not just me I have to worry about.
When my abusive ex catches up with me, the club gives me protection, which pushes me closer to the man I want, but who I can never have.
