Miss Fleming Falls in Love: A Witty Historical Regency Romance by Emma Melbourne
A Girl. An Earl. A Battle of Wits . . .

Miss Amelia Fleming has a very good reason to hate the Earl of Langley. A year ago, her father drowned in the Thames after losing a fortune to Langley at cards. Now her family is broke, her fiancé has broken their engagement, and the debt still hasn't been paid. Someone has to deal with the earl, but Amelia's brother doesn't have the nerve and her mother has fled to France. It's no business for a gently bred young lady, but the Earl of Langley is about to learn that Amelia Fleming is not your typical young lady . . .

Notes from the diary of the Earl of Langley
March, 1816
London

I never thought I would be the sort of man who keeps a diary, but boredom has driven me to it. Every Season is worse than the last. The balls are boring. My friends are boring. And all the young women in London are intolerably dull. In my ten years on the town, I have yet to meet a woman who can string two intelligent sentences together.

But of course, my mother is after me to get married, as she thinks I need an heir. Perhaps having children would be interesting, but I doubt it. Certainly not if they were borne by one of the insipid young ladies I've met at balls. And I'm only thirty-two, so there's plenty of time to worry about the succession.

But somehow Mother discovered that I'm known as the Stoneheart, and although I find the name amusing, she finds it worrisome. She's convinced that I'm lonely, and insists that if I simply make an eligible young woman an offer of marriage, love will follow. But I tried that once, and everyone knows how it ended.

Miss Fleming Falls in Love is a closed-door, witty Regency Romance about a misunderstood nobleman who meets his match in a spirited and unconventional heroine. Perfect for fans of Georgette Heyer and Bridgerton!
