Midnight Angels: An Inspirational Christian Romance by Barbara Bressler McKee
While visiting a local tavern to escape the stresses of her upcoming wedding, Miranda Kramer meets a musician who invites her to join him on his tour bus for a couple weeks - no strings attached. She accepts but soon learns she doesn't fit in with his crowd. After attending a party where she's handed drinks that hit her unusually hard, she demands that he find her a way home. All she remembers next is waking up alongside a road in the middle of nowhere without a clue to where she is, who she is, or what secrets her past might hold. While driving home from a friend's wedding on a cold November night, Steve Dalton finds the lovely but lost and confused young woman walking on the shoulder with no coat, shoes, or purse. He realizes she's suffering from amnesia, but when she refuses to seek aid from the hospital or police, he's left with no other option but to bring her home with him and try to help her regain her memory by taking her places and engaging her in activities that might jog it. As recollections gradually trickle in, one question remains why does any mention of the musician she'd accompanied on the tour bus - or hearing his music - register such intense fear in her? As the emotional connection between Miranda and Steve grows, both become unsure if they want her to reclaim her history. But they can't pursue a future together until they know she's free to do so. And when the unexpected and shocking truth is finally revealed, will their relationship be strong enough to endure and withstand the consequences? The fifth installment in the "Angels of Cedarville" series, "Midnight Angels," is also a stand-alone read.
