Not On My Watch by Jesse Storm
Jackson Chandler, a Union Army veteran, values Afton town’s calm and quiet as do most of the townsfolk. And Afton, in Kansas, wants no part of being a cattle town.

Cattle, plentiful in Texas, have to be shipped back east to a hungry public, who couldn’t get enough beef. The closest railroad hubs are in Kansas. Texas drovers move massive herds through Indian Territory and into Kansas.

Corrupt banker Morton Ludwig wants his share of the lucrative cattle trade and will do anything to make Afton a wide open yet violent cattle town. He has help from a vicious outlaw he employs, named Decker Odom. Who can stand in the way of these villains? There is nobody in Afton they won’t threaten, hurt or kill – including the town’s mayor Cleveland Hefner.

Jackson must figure out a way to stop Ludwig and his gang. Along the way, Jackson will rekindle a relationship he had at one time with Caroline Hefner, the mayor’s widow.

Each novel in the Western Justice Adventures series is a standalone story, with sprinkles of romance, that can be read out of order.
