One Kind Touch by Christine DePetrillo
Dena Brenton crunches numbers at her family’s sawmill in Maplehaven, Vermont and loves the order and logic of the job. When an opportunity to attend a conference in Rhode Island on managing business finances comes around, she’s on board to learn more and make improvements. It’s time for a little adventure anyway. She’s not sure where her current relationship—if she can even call it that—is going. Some time away will help her figure out more than just numbers.

Carter Bennett breathes life into the video games he creates. From New York originally, he’s made Vermont his home after visiting his best friend, Leah. So far the state has proven to be successful for him and his games. The pause button has been pushed on his love life though and he’s not sure if he—or the woman he’s interested in—is ready for the next level. Hitting the play button is the only way to find out.

When trouble finds Dena at the conference, she retreats back to the safety of Maplehaven. Carter is ready to be there for her, but she’s done the calculations and putting herself in safe mode is the only way to keep any potential threats outside her perimeter.
