My's Way by Nikki Clarke, L.M. Byfield
Kyorto has had enough of cocky, reckless Americans, and she definitely hopes to never come across a particular cocky, reckless American again. Of course, that means, he shows up on the micro island where she's taking her first real vacation in almost a decade.

Mykel knows he messed up with Kyo when they met during a wild New York summer in college. Since then, he's gotten his life together all the while wondering what could have been. When he spies her beautiful, dark body, a body he'd know anywhere, cutting through the waves at a private beach on the island where he's come to build a rehabilitation clinic, he swears she almost looks like a mermaid, tail and all.

With the seclusion and splendor of the island as a backdrop, My hopes he can break down Kyo's barriers, but the reality of who she is may prove too much for the life he's worked so hard to build.

TW: This sweet little mermaid tale addresses issues of substance abuse.
