Stalked by the Marine by Cassi Hart
With my life in shambles at the hands of a man I once trusted, I’m left to pick up the pieces and find something to do with myself. I’m not sure what a guy like me is supposed to do with a record like mine hanging over his head … I can’t prove my innocence to people who won’t believe me anyway. It’s like my life has no purpose now, that is, until I meet my little dove at the airport. “Meet” is a strong word, but ever since she walked into my life, I can’t get her out of my head. This girl has become my new reason for living, outside of proving my innocence, and nothing will keep me from making her mine. Trying to make my own way in the world is hard, especially when you don’t have any help. I could have gone to college, but instead, I dream of owning the diner I work at. I’ve been working tirelessly to save up the money to buy the business before the owners retire. My stepdad has offered to buy it for me, but the thought makes me uncomfortable. So does he, honestly. Because I’m saving up, I never get to go out. The only thing I ever get to look forward to seeing, the new regular we have at the diner. He’s tall and handsome, with this dark, mysterious demeanor I find magnetic. My waitress friends are finally making me serve his table, but I’m incredibly nervous. Would someone like him ever be interested in me?
