Lydia Seabrooke was unstoppable. She triumphed over every task put in front of her. She was the top of her class in every school she attended (and there were several) and on her way to take the world by storm. She didn’t have time for anything other than her ambition. But when it all came crashing down, taking her with it, Lydia fled to the only person she could trust to protect her: her best friend.

Everett had been Lydia’s best friend for ten years. He’d always thought she was beautiful, but far too focused for anything more than a friendship. But when she shows up at his place for a few days with both of them conveniently single and her dropping hints here and there… could she be interested in him, too?

When a weekend together has them exploring new facets ofharac their relationship, Lydia and Everett find themselves in uncharted territory. Can they figure out how to let their love grow without destroying it before it’s had a chance to bloom? Or will the shadow chasing Lydia prove too large an obstacle for them to overcome?

Only You is book four in the Falling for You series and details the relationship of Lydia and Everett.

“Ev, you know I’ve never had a boyfriend. I wouldn’t date someone and not introduce him to you.”
“You know what I mean,” he followed up. He reached for the bottle of whiskey and refilled his glass, then motioned to her.
“I’ll take another glass, and I don’t know what you mean.”
“Not necessarily a boyfriend, but a gentleman who’s had the privilege of spending the night in bed with you.”
“Oh, good Lord,” she laughed. “I’m afraid Mr. Darcy hasn’t been over for a sleepover either.” She laughed. “Nor has Mr. Bingley, and worst yet, Mr. Wickham hasn’t even tried to ruin me.”
“No sleepovers?” he pressed. “You don’t like sharing a bed?”
“It’s not that. There just haven’t been any offers that have piqued my interest,” she continued, her eyes flicking away from his.
They sat in silence a few moments, Everett’s brow furrowed.
“Are you telling me something big right now?” he finally said.
“Oh, for heaven’s sake, yes, I am a virgin. I have never had sex or shared a bed with anyone. Well, except you. The bed-sharing thing, not sex. Obviously. I hope you would remember if we had sex.”
“I would,” he interjected.
Lydia blushed and turned back to her drink and emptied it.
“Do you want another drink?”
“Yes, please.” She thrust her glass in his direction. He chuckled and filled it.
“Why are you laughing?” Her voice was shaky.
“Oh, not at you. I’m just thinking of all the poor blokes through the years. Either they missed a chance to sweep you off your feet, or they were left heartbroken in your wake.”
“I promise, it hasn’t been that dramatic. Sure, there have been a few dates here and there that could have gone further than they did, but look at me: do I really look like the girl guys take upstairs?” She shrugged.
“I’m looking at a hot blonde with big green eyes and great cleavage.” He spat out before he could think better of it.
“Please don’t tell anyone,” she said, her eyes wide. “Seriously, no one else knows.”
“First of all, I don’t know who I would tell. Secondly, I will take it to the grave. Thirdly, tell me you have kissed someone before, or I’m going to kiss you right now so you can check that off your list, romantic or not.”
“I have,” she said, and then added with a smirk, “you’re not going to sleep with me right now so I can check that off my list?”
Oh, he wanted to. Everett had ten years’ worth of passion for Lydia built up and begging to be let out.
“I wouldn’t take that sort of liberty. You’ve waited this long and should probably make a whole big thing of it when it does happen. And I’m afraid I’m too drunk to be anything other than a lousy lover right now.”
“Well that wouldn’t do."
